Friends Provident Day Mascot Race on Friends Provident t20 Finals Day

The most eagerly awaited race of the year will be taking place on the 14 August. No, this is not the meeting of Bolt, Powell and Gay but the Friends Provident t20 Finals Day Mascot Race.

After last years surprise victory for Warwickshire's Hugh Bear, there has been plenty of speculation among the mascots and Sky Sports commentary team about this years potential winner. Putting his money where his mouth is, long time fan of the mascot race and on-course commentator David "Bumble" Lloyd said:

"I will be putting my 10 bob on Lanky to win, he has shown some early season form and although he was one of the slower mascots in the trials I expect him to come good! Also a touch of bias maybe involved."

The mascots this year can expect obstacles such as a 1m high cricket bat, a 5m wide ball pit and a 9m cricket net crawl.

Karen Burrell of Friends Provident said of the mascot race:

"I am very much looking forward to the mascot race at this year's Finals Day. It is one of the highlights of an action packed day and one the crowd really loves and engages in. I'm not going to be making any predictions though - the trials to secure a good spot on the starting grid have been very fiercely fought, which will make for a thrilling, and no doubt entertaining race!"

The Friends Provident t20 Finals Day will take place on August 14 at the Rose Bowl and live on Sky Sports 1.
